Following, is the text that accompanied the photograph at the archive: Better health conditions were immediately noticeable among the school children after the Red Cross hot lunch program was started in rural schools in the drought-stricken states. Little girl preparing to eat her hot meat and vegetable stew and buttered bread - the standard lunch. 1931.
