1939 FBI J AGENT HANDCUFFED TO BUCHALTER PHOTO
This photograph shows Louis "Lepke" Buchalter, center, handcuffed to J. Edgar Hoover, on the left, with another man on the right, at entrance to courthouse, 1939. That is what the archival record shows for this photograph, at least. I had an email from a former FBI agent and historian that said this is not Hoover in the photograph. Hoover did personally make the arrest but, as one historian pointed out to me, "it was not Hoover's style to accompany the perp." You be the judge.
